Sorrow(n):deep distress, sadness, or regret especially for the loss of someone or something loved.

There are no words to describe how deeply sad I am at the loss of a friend. How could someone so talented, so intelligent, so loved be taken away? The moment I even try to put myself in the place of his newlywed wife, I completely break down. I grieve for him, for her, for his family.
